Education and Science

Cottbus is one of the most important education locations in the easternpart of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Brandenburg Technical University and the University of Applied Science, Lausitz are magnets for

interdisciplinary studies throughout Europe. Cottbus distinguishes itself as a European technical pacesetter focusing on innovative industries and scientific advancements in research concerning energy, material, environment and communication.

17 elementary schools, 6 comprehensive schools, sport schools, 6 high schools with extended mathematics, science and technical training,

4 junior high schools, one Waldorf School (Rudolf Steiner School), 2 upper level training centers, Cottbus College, a conservatory and numerous private continuing education and training centers help to shape Cottbus´s educational landscape.

University of Applied Science, Lausitz

Currently has approximately 3,000 students and is the the largest University of Applied Science in the State for courses in:
architecture, civil engineering, supply and waste disposal engineering, music paedagogy, social welfare, chemical engineering/process engineering, electro-technology, informatics, economic science, mechanical engineering.
